Target Group:
Confocal microscope users who are new or have limited experience with the LSM 710. This course is also useful for customers who would like a refresher in the basics. The course will allow you to develop a basic, working knowledge of both the hardware and software. Please note that this course will focus on our AIM software; however, if you are running a ZEN system, we will make adjustments to the course plan to include this software in the training.

Configuring the system for data collection
Image Acquisition including Z-stacks
Colocalization
Timelapse Imaging
Spectral Imaging
System Care and Maintenance

Goals for the Course:
Participants will learn the basic knowledge needed to use the LSM 710. Course provides basic knowledge ranging from confocal imaging principles to 3D image acquisition, time-lapse imaging, and spectral imaging.

Day I
Introduction to Confocal Microscopy (Lecture)
Getting started using the system:
- Light path configuration
- Simultaneous versus sequential acquisition
- Image acquisition parameters
Colocalization analysis
Z-stack acquisition - 3D view
Image adjustment, annotations, importing and exporting images
Day II
Timelapse imaging
- Balancing speed and image quality
Motorized stage / multiple position
Tiling
System Maintenance
- Pinhole alignment, cleaning your system
Day III
Spectral Imaging (Lecture)
Setting up spectral acquisition
Linear unmixing
Hands-on Session and Individual Q&A
