CLA 35 HD - Bringing the full optical potential
of 35 mm cine lenses to 2/3” electronic cameras
The newly announced co-operation between Angénieux and Carl Zeiss has resulted in the launch of the ”CLA 35 HD” – Cine Lens Adapter for 35 mm Cine Lenses on High Definition digital cameras – a unique adaptation optic, at NAB 2000.
The new optic enables the use of PL mount 35 mm cine lenses on electronic HD 2/3” cameras thus making the optical infrastructure of high quality motion picture production available for digital movie making.
Angénieux and Zeiss have co-operated closely to bring the full optical potential of modern 35 mm cine lenses to electronic cameras. The CLA 35 HD is based on a very elaborate design incorporating 12 lens elements in 10 groups. Several lens elements are made of extra low dispersion glass for excellent chromatic performance of the system. The optical design has been optimized to achieve the best results with the new Zeiss Ultra Prime cine lenses and is the perfect complement with the new Angénieux 11.5 x 5.3 cine-style HD zoom lens. The high image quality and consistent color rendition of these cine lenses are maintained in combination with the CLA 35 HD.
Thanks to the integration of an optical format converter in the CLA 35 HD, angles of view remain unchanged on both prime lenses and zoom lenses.
The camera can be a 2/3” progressive scanning camera (”24p”) or a com- atible one with a standard bayonet mount. The full aperture of the system can be used to obtain the best depth of field possible as required in film production. The CLA 35 HD is designed and manufactured by Angénieux and Carl Zeiss. It will be available through Angénieux (www.angenieux.com) as of Fall 2000. | |
