Angénieux with Carl Zeiss - A new co-operation
to provide supreme optics for digital motion picture production

Precision optics manufacturers Carl Zeiss and Angénieux have teamed up in order to broaden the spectrum of high quality camera lenses for digital motion picture production. The technical requirements in this field are extremely exacting, higher than those of still camera lenses and several orders of magnitude higher than those for the better-known amateur cameras.
The first result of this co-operation is an optical adapter CLA 35 HD which enables the use of 35 mm cine lenses on a 2/3” HD camera requiring no modification to either camera or lens.
While Carl Zeiss has been supplying the motion picture industry with high quality prime lenses from its very beginning, Angénieux has been manufacturing zoom lenses since the introduction of the first zoom lens by Pierre Angénieux in 1956. Both of these Oscar-winning companies, Angénieux in St. Héand, France, and Carl Zeiss in Oberkochen, Germany, are the largest European cine optics manufacturers in their respective specialities. They also have a substantial background in precision optical systems for demanding industrial, medical, astronomical, aerospace, and defence applications. Zeiss and Angénieux have decided to jointly develop and manufacture optical solutions for the field of digital motion picture production with the uncompromizing quality level required by the cinema industry.
