When the assemblies are screwed together, and integrated into the sliding component containing the diaphragm, the cine lens is almost finished. To ensure that the lens assemblies can not loosen, the retainer ring is secured using a special finish that was developed by Carl Zeiss for the extreme conditions in space – a NASA requirement for photographic documentation of its expeditions. There are no fumes and the optics can not fog. Installing the mounted assemblies into the barrel is the final step. The finished cine lens now undergoes a final inspection of image quality [more].
