Family Album of the Planet Earth
For one of the most challenging photo projects ever undertaken famous fashion and beauty photographer Uwe Ommer of Paris took four years off from commercial work to photograph two thousand families from all over the world.
The resulting photos were now shown to the public as large format prints during photokina 2000. For the photokina week 1000 prints were displayed along the one kilometer footwalk over the Hohenzollern bridge crossing the river Rhine, leading from the Cologne Cathedral to the photokina entrance. In addition to this public showing a 576 pages book has been published at Taschen (www.taschen.com): Uwe Ommer: 1000 Families, ISBN 3-8228-6213-4.
Rollei was one of the main supporters to Ommer, who took these family portraits using Rolleiflex 6008i cameras with Planar 2,8/80, Makro-Planar 4/120, and Distagon 4/50.
