Contax 645 – a success right from the start
The first autofocus medium format SLR camera with interchangeable magazines and viewfinders caught photographer’s attention all over the world. It was an immediate success: production capacity is stretched to the limits to cope with the order situation.
Within professional photography the Contax was very much welcomed by wedding photographers, because they need medium format and Zeiss lenses for professional quality of their prints, motor drive and autofocus for speed in action. The option of using interchangeable magazines and a Polaroid film back when needed is also a valuable asset. | |
