Carl Zeiss and Band Pro introduce DigiPrime Lenses for High Definition

IBC 2001 in Amsterdam marked the international debut announcement that the world's leading cine prime lens manufacturer, Carl Zeiss, is developing premium prime lenses for High Definition digital cinematography. To supply and support the new lenses worldwide, Zeiss signed an exclusive contract with Band Pro Film/Video of Burbank, California. Band Pro has pioneered film-style electronic cinematography systems for over 17 years, including today's Sony CineAlta 24p HDCAM™.
The upcoming Zeiss DigiPrime™ lenses bring Zeiss' superior engineering and unsurpassed manufacturing craftsmanship (now the standard for cine primes) to the digital cinematography world. The new design is optimized to fully utilize both the creative and technical potential of the best HD cameras utilizing 2/3" imagers. Complete with B4 mount, the new DigiPrimes will offer custom features for film-style production with high definition cameras, unique among lenses on today's market.

Zeiss DigiPrimes will be manufactured at the Zeiss factory in Oberkochen, Germany. In April 2002, fully working pre-production DigiPrime lenses will be on display at NAB, Las Vegas. Delivery of the first DigiPrimes is scheduled for late summer 2002. News and updates can be seen at www.DigiPrimes.com
