Compact and long-live solid-state lasers also put thick or weakly fluorescing specimens in the right light, limiting tissue damage.

Laser lines of 405, 440, 488, 532, 561 and 635 nm are available. You can select up to four of them. Because of a variable second port, these lines are also available for photomanipulation with the LSM DuoScan. This allows the added use of a UV laser at 351 nm, e.g. for uncaging in physiology.

You can concentrate on the emission of your specimen: the disturbing side-effects of conventional gas lasers like heat or sound emissions are a thing of the past.
