Axon Tracts in Embryonic Zebrafish
A whole mount zebrafish at 48 hours postfertilization was incubated in anti-acetylated tubulin primary antibody which labeled axon tracts. In the opening frame of the movie, rostral is in the lower right, caudal is in the upper left and dorsal is toward the viewer. Prominent in this movie are retinal ganglion cell axons exiting the retinas, forming the optic nerves and crossing at the midline to the optic chiasm. In this early embryo, the optic nerves have not yet reached the tectum.
