The beam path of the LSM 7 LIVE is completely revised. From the complex cross-sectional shaping of the laser beam through the changed form of the confocal aperture to the novel detector – the entire optical concept is consistently tailored to biomedical applications. Leading-edge optical technology in the service of life sciences, innovation from Carl Zeiss.
 | | LSM 7 LIVE Beam Shaper.
The improved laser positioning and beam shaping in the LSM 7 LIVE provides homogeneous illumination and focusses precisely on the AchroGate beam splitter. |
| |
 | | AchroGate Beam Splitter
The new AchroGate splitter, with virtually 100% excitation efficiency and highly effective emission yield, guarantees 100% performance even on thick or weakly fluorescent specimens. No electrical or mechanical switching of different main beam splitters to slow down your imaging.
SK filters
The LSM 7 LIVE is available in configurations comprising highly efficient steep cut-off filters. Wheels with such filters (Semrock BrightlineTM and other makes) are also available as retrofitting units. Double bandpass filters allow rapid imaging of 3 dyes in two channels. |

 | | Confocal Aperture
Two individually adjustable confocal apertures ensure maximum confocality at all levels. This variability guarantees an optimal combination of spatial resolution and signal/noise for every specimen and experiment. |
| |
 | | Detector
The ultra-fast CCD line detector allows parallel imaging of 512 pixels with high quantum yield. |
