Full motorization of all moving components in the Scanning module, and fast and precise control of the laser light irradiated into the sample make the LSM 5 EXCITER your personal laser scanning microscope for demanding tasks. In the LSM software you can define all parameters of the confocal beam path, including the relevant filter positions and the size of the continuously adjustable confocal pinhole – from image acquisition of a single optical section to a multidimensional multicolor time series.

Any of the laser lines available with the LSM 5 EXCITER can be blanked or attenuated with single-pixel accuracy through AOTF control. This provides the best conditions for successful photobleaching experiments, or investigations with photoactivable or photoconvertible dyes. Moreover, the system boasts frame sizes of up to 2048x2048 pixels, exceptionally large scanning fields with superior linearity, 12-bit resolution per channel, fast scanning speeds, highly sensitive detectors (selected photomultipliers), and short light paths from the sample to the detector – in short: a system that is unique in its class.

As in all other systems of the Zeiss LSM family, all system settings once selected can be restored any time at the touch of a button. As it combines with three different high-end microscopes and up to four lasermodules, the LSM 5 EXCITER can be precisely tailored to your requirements.
