405: allows UV imaging with 405nm laser; not recommended with 365nm excitation
2D: limited confocal 3D-reconstruction capability (elongated PSF in Z) in the UV range
thin: recommended for time lapse imaging of specimens up to 170µm thickness
TIRF: allows Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (see light microscopy equipment)
850: NLO imaging with excitation up to 850nm, not recommended above 900nm
