OBERKOCHEN/Germany, 24.11.2006.
In November, the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC), Quantico, Virginia, ordered 250 additional eyesafe laser rangefinders worth a total of seven million US dollars from Carl Zeiss Optronics GmbH. With this order, the Oberkochen company is consolidating its position as a technological leader of high quality optronic systems in the USA.

In March, Carl Zeiss Optronics will begin the delivery of a total of 450 laser rangefinders to the U.S. Marine Corps.

After extensive field tests in the USA and an official invitation to bid from the U.S. Marine Corps in 2005, Carl Zeiss Optronics was selected as the supplier in March 2006. The firm Raytheon Technical Services Company in Indianapolis is the partner for service and logistics after the completion of the first installation.

With a total contract volume of 35 million US dollars, it can be assumed that the USMC will order a further 550 laser rangefinders in the future.
