A reconnaissance unit also used directly in the operational arena should be as mobile as possible and able to react flexibly. Primarily, this means reliably transmitting live data to mission command centres even as the users position constantly changes.
Ideally, this requires transmitting the exact coordinates of an object during the day or at night. NESTOR was developed by Carl Zeiss Optronics for this purpose. However, the clear transmission of the range to an observed object alone – using the HALEM 2 laser rangefinder – can be vital to protecting people and property. | |
