Observation Modules
Forward mobile surveillance
Protecting civilians, military personnel and objects during peace- keeping missions places added value on surveillance and security tasks. However, troops can only properly protect others when they are safe themselves. This requires providing military leaders in the deployment area with information around the clock, thus enabling flexible decision making.

Carl Zeiss Optronics has developed a surveillance module that can be mounted to an armored, all-terrain vehicle such as the DINGO. This module consists of a fiberglass hard top with a frame construction that accommodates the elevation mast with the pan-and-tilt head and its sensors. Power supply is provided by the vehicle. Thus, it is possible to complete security tasks in crisis areas autonomously from the base – regardless of how far away it is.

The module can be transported separately. The basic vehicle can be retrofit into a surveillance vehicle in approximately 1.5 hours using simple field tools.

NESTOR and OPUS-H are available for mobile day and night observation, particularly for forward observers. These handheld instruments offer a variety of functions, such as determination of target coordinates, and can also be adapted to portable systems.
