| South African Minister Alec Erwin Visits Oberkochen |

OBERKOCHEN/Germany – June 26, 2006.
High-profile visitors at Carl Zeiss Optronics GmbH: the South African Minister of Public Enterprises, Alec Erwin, and the Chairman of the South African industrial enterprise Denel, Shaun Liebenberg, have paid a visit to Carl Zeiss Optronics in Oberkochen. Carl Zeiss President and CEO Dr. Dieter Kurz and Member of the Board Dr. Norbert Gorny, as well as President and CEO Josef Kötter and Member of the Board Dr. Armin Breinig, both from Carl Zeiss Optronics GmbH, presented various production areas to the guests.
"The visit confirms the many years of excellent collaboration between different companies in the Carl Zeiss Group, and the optronics area in particular, and South African partners,“ explained Josef Kötter. The successful cooperation will be deepened and expanded in the future. Minister Alec Erwin emphasized that this was an important step to strengthen political and economic processes in South Africa. He encouraged the Carl Zeiss representatives to continue with their commitment in South Africa.
