Combined with VisuMax femtosecond laser, MEL 80 excimer laser offers an optimally coordinated system solution for refractive laser surgery – for a convenient workflow, efficient patient management and the best possible results.
High-precision flaps created by the VisuMax on the one hand, specially optimized ablation profiles, very short ablation time, an active eyetracker with excellent feedback times and an ultrarapid IR camera catching both pupil and limbus on the MEL 80 on the other hand help surgeons to produce excellent results.
Through the combined use of the pivoting patient supporting system between the VisuMax femtosecond system and MEL 80 excimer laser, patient transfers between surgical steps are just a quick turn. Furthermore the fast MEL 80´s short ablation time reduces procedure time. The treatment planning and data entry needs to be done only at one laser since the systems communicate with each other. Both, the patient and the surgeon experiences the Femto-LASIK surgery as a fast, integrated process.

ZEISS has dedicated itself to constantly improving the customized ablation procedure. One successful result of this development is the CRS-Master. This system integrates into the MEL 80 and gives you full control over all treatment parameters at a glance. So you can combine conventional refractive surgery with customized surgery, depending on the indication.
The CRS Master PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision option also offers a new approach to age-optimized laser vision correction and therefore meets the needs of the growing group of patients reaching the presbyopic age.
In classic monovision, one eye is corrected for near and the other for distance vision. A multifocal ablation, on the other hand, creates a greater depth of focus. As an optimized and progressive vision treatment method, PRESBYOND Laser Blended Vision combines the advantages of both of these approaches.
With PRESBYOND, each eye is harmoniously adjusted to the other according to a multi-variant algorithm. The dominant eye is customized mainly for far vision, while the other eye is adjusted for near vision. However, there is an intentional degree of overlap in the depth of focus of both eyes, the so-called blend zone. Generally, the brain quickly adjusts and combines the two images to offer patients much greater depth of vision, while also reducing the need for reading glasses.
Through its underlying principle, PRESBYOND Laser Blended Vision can surmount the shortcomings of other presbyopia management methods by preserving a certain amount of stereoscopic vision.
