  • Installation Instructions

Step 1: Install CALYPSO software and any service packs prior to installing the interface.

Step 2: Download and install the CALYPSO NZDI Driver. Follow instructions prompted during the installation.

Step 3: Configure the LKClient.ini file for the host machine.

    • Configuration settings for the interface are stored in the folder, (note 3 underscores before and after NZDI):
      C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO\config\equip\___NZDI___\ LKInterface
    • If you want to capture a log file and configuration of the system, use the CALYPSO Error Report. All interface log files and configuration settings will be captured in the error report. Log files that the interface generates are stored in: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO\log

    Typical .ini parameters and definitions:

    Interface

    • CalypsoPort=nonCZcontrol. TCP/IP port for interface. Do not change this value
    • Logging=10. Creates debugging logs. Default is 8. Choose 1 through 10 for logging details.

    ProbeHead

    • PHType=10. PH10=10, PH9=9, MIP=1, MIH=1, PH1=1.
    • SystemRotation=270.0 Probe head rotation. Do not change this value.
    • WristOrientation=-Z+X Probe head orientation. Do not change this value.
    • IsMoveableHead=true. For articulating probe heads. It = true for PH10, PH9, MIP, and MIH and false for PH1.

    System Parameters

    • CMM_Number=123456. CMM serial number. Do not change this value.
    • IsManualEquipment=false. Unsupported function.
    • IsRotaryTable=false. Unsupported function.
    • Lasering=true. Unsupported function.
    • CircularMoves=false. Enter true, if controller supports Circular Moves.
    • useLKvolcomp=true. Enter true if using LK volume compensation files. Recommended =true.

    ProbeOffset

    • XOffset=0.0. Distance in mm from quill end to wrist of probe. Recommend XOffset=0.0
    • YOffset=0.0 Distance in mm from quill end to wrist of probe. Recommend YOffset=0.0
    • ZOffset=-90.0 Distance in mm from quill end to wrist of probe. Recommend ZOffset=-90.0

    ZeroOffset

    • ZeroOffsetX=0.0 Distance in mm from CMM Home position to most back position of CMM
    • ZeroOffsetY=700.0 Distance in mm from CMM Home position to most right position of CMM
    • ZeroOffsetZ=0.0 Distance in mm from CMM Home position to most top position of CMM

Step 4: Copy configuration files from OEM computer to CALYPSO computer

Copy the following two folders located in C:\LK\AppData from the OEM computer

    • \CMMCFG
    • \ErrC

To the ZEISS CALYPSO computer folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO\config\equip\___NZDI___\ LKInterface\

Step 5: Configure CALYPSO and connect to the NZDI Device.

Details are found in CALYPSO configuration for NZDI.pdf

  • Calibration Instructions

By design, the installation of ZEISS CALYPSO on non-ZEISS OEM machines does not require a machine calibration or acceptance test. Machine correction files for machine accuracy are managed and adjusted by the OEM and reside on the OEM Computer. Copying these files to a CALYPSO installation folder will allow CALYPSO to read and apply this calibration data. For quality assurance reasons, you may choose to perform an acceptance test of ZEISS CALYPSO and the CMM system. However, if machine accuracy or repeatability is not within acceptable limits, adjustments must be made to original calibration file by the OEM and moved to the correct CALYPSO installation folder.

    After the installation of CALYPSO software, or after adjustments are made during a machine calibration;

Copy the following two folders located in C:\LK\AppData from the OEM computer

    • \CMMCFG
    • \ErrC

To the ZEISS CALYPSO computer folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO\config\equip\___NZDI___\ LKInterface\
