Choosing the Right ZEISS Lens for You

When selecting eyeglasses, you’ll also be choosing a frame, the type of lens, and lens coatings. You have many lens options to choose from, and your selections will depend on your lifestyle, work, and leisure activities, so discuss how you’ll use your glasses with your ZEISS eye care professional to get the optimal lens for you.

Some eye doctors use advanced technology to gain a deeper understanding of your vision condition. For example, the i.Profilerplus® by ZEISS (Patent) maps subtle imperfections in the eye to create a super-precise prescription. And eye doctors who use the i.Terminal® 2 by ZEISS can create a prescription that also takes into account how your frames sit on your face to give you a precise prescription.

Follow these four steps to find the perfect lens for you:

Step 1: Discover your lens type

Step 2: Choose the perfect lens material

Step 3: Find the right lens coating

Step 4: Determine the sun protection you need

Step 1: Discover your lens type

ZEISS single-vision lenses and progressive lenses can give you sharper vision no matter what your prescription. But lenses can also be crafted based on how you use your lenses — such as ZEISS workplace lenses, which offer wider areas of vision in the close- to mid-ranges.

But the lens is only as good as your prescription. Each eye is unique — and the i.Profilerplus® by ZEISS technology (Patent) measures the unique roadmap of each eye, resulting in a super-precise prescription — an i.Scription® by ZEISS (Patent) — just for you that helps ensure optimal vision, with sharper contrast and color intensity, even in low-light situations.

Single vision lenses

Single vision lenses are ideal for people who are only near-sighted or far-sighted, but not all single vision lenses are created equal. Your lens choice will affect your vision.

Progressive lenses

Progressive lenses are ideal for people who want to have a combination of close-up and distance vision in one lens.

Workplace and Computer Lenses

Depending on your individual workplace situation, there are several different lens options available.

Step 2: Choose the perfect lens material

Lenses can be made with more sophisticated lens materials, such as polycarbonate and other high-index materials, allowing you to get thinner and lighter lenses, no matter how strong your prescription.

You’ll find a range of high-index, lightweight plastics used for ZEISS lenses — the more sophisticated and higher index the material, the lighter and thinner the lens can be. At the highest end, the high-index lenses can make lenses up to 50% lighter and thinner than traditional lenses. That means a more comfortable, natural look for you.

Step 3: Find the Right Lens Coating

ZEISS offers a selection of leading-edge coatings, including anti-reflective, anti-scratch, anti-static, and hydrophobic coatings to help keep your lenses clean and clear, no matter what you encounter. PureCoat® by ZEISS combines all of the coatings into one premium way to keep your vision clean and clear.

Step 4: Determine the Sun Protection You Need

If you spend time outdoors, ZEISS self-tinting lenses or polarized lenses can give your eyes the UV protection they need — and help ensure sun glare doesn’t impact your vision.
