Along with the wide-angle and telephoto accessory lenses, the macro-zoom lens belongs to the ExoLens® PRO with Optics by ZEISS product family. The optical design of the accessory lens is called Vario-ProxarTM and comes equipped with the trusted T*® anti-reflective coating from ZEISS. It also offers outstanding edge-to-edge contrast across the entire image field as well as virtually no distortion or chromatic aberration.

The macro-zoom lens with a focal length of 40 to 80 millimeters is the first and only smartphone accessory lens with a variable focal length setting. In combination with the optics of the smartphone camera, turning the ring does not increase or reduce the field of view. The ring functions much like a manual focus with which different planes can be set into focus. Depending on the setting, objects that are three to five centimeters away or five to eight centimeters away can be captured, enabling the full-frame razor-sharp capture of objects approximately three to twelve centimeters in size using the macro-zoom lens.

The supplied detachable semi-transparent diffuser can be used as a spacer. This ensures that the object is illuminated evenly and enables convenient focusing, even with a short object distance and a shallow depth of field.

    The macro-zoom lens with a focal length of 40 to 80 millimeters is the first and only smartphone accessory lens with a variable focal length setting. In combination with the optics of the smartphone camera, turning the ring does not increase or reduce the field of view. Instead, the ring functions much like a manual focus with which different planes can be set into focus. If photographers want to shoot objects that are three to five centimeters away, they turn the ring to the right as far as it will go, and to the left for objects that are five to eight centimeters away. This enables the full-frame razor-sharp capture of objects approximately three to twelve centimeters in size using the macro-zoom lens.

    The macro-zoom lens is virtually distortion-free, without chromatic aberration and delivers excellent contrast across the entire image field. A unique image quality is achieved with a shallow depth of field in the close-up range which is unmatched by any other accessory lenses for smartphones.

    ExoLens® PRO with Optics by ZEISS

    All ZEISS lens element surfaces are equipped with a proven T*® anti-reflective coating which increases transmission, enabling brilliant images even in unfavorable light conditions. Very thin, transparent coatings are applied to the surfaces of the lens elements to make them anti-reflective. One by one, special substances are vaporized with very high energy in a high vacuum. These are then deposited on the glass surface in layers with precisely controlled thicknesses to achieve the desired reflection reduction. The first coatings were already being applied by ZEISS in the 1930s.

    The tailor-made, smartphone-specific ExoLens® mounting solutions made from precision-machined aluminum with soft interior liners ensure the perfect fit and protect your smartphone from scratches. Both mounting solutions feature an integrated cold shoe mount for attaching additional components such as an external light source. The bracket additionally has an integrated standard tripod mount (1/4”-20). The Edge mount features an additional key ring hole for convenient carrying of the Edge mount when not in use.
