Super Speed Lenses

Whether you’re shooting a commercial where exquisite color rendition and high contrast is important, or a tense, dramatic sequence in low light situations for a feature film, ZEISS Compact Prime CP.2 Super Speed lenses offer you the performance you need to get the scene right. They are an ideal complement to the existing range of CP.2 lenses. The aperture of T1.5 gives you an even wider range of creative possibilities when shooting in low light environments or when aiming to achieve a cinematic shallow depth of field. Giving you the freedom to experiment and the flexibility to make your vision become reality.

We developed the CP.2 Super Speed lenses because of the high request for the "old" superspeed lenses introduced in the 1970’s. Back than these lenses offered the largest aperture available for cinematography, T1.2. The down side when using these lenses today is the challenging optical performance. They show typical aberrations of old, fast lens designs. They are very soft, show less contrast and coma. Even stopped down to T1.9 they will be softer and less contrasty than modern lenses at the same aperture.

Using the new Compact Prime CP.2 Super Speed lenses you can still achieve the desired "look". Moreover, they show less aberration which results in an overall better image quality. Images appear much sharer and show a much higher contrast. The CP.2 Super Speed lenses cover a full-frame sensor format and are equipped with the interchangeable lens mount system for use with a variety of cameras ranging from HDSLR to professional cinema cameras.
