ZEISS microscope developers win the 2022 Deutscher Zukunftspreis
The development of the ZEISS Lattice Lightsheet 7 for the gentle 3D imaging of living cells was honored with the German Federal President's Award for Technology and Innovation
The President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, awarded the 2022 Deutscher Zukunftspreis to the team from ZEISS during a festive ceremony on 26 October. The jury recognized the ZEISS experts Dr. Thomas Kalkbrenner, Dr. Jörg Siebenmorgen, and Ralf Wolleschensky for their significant contribution in the development of the microscope system ZEISS Lattice Lightsheet 7, which enables, for the first time, biomedical researchers to observe living cells live and in 3D for hours or even days.

wins Deutscher Zukunftspreis 2020
The German Federal President's Award for Technology and Innovation honors the team from the ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology (SMT) segment for the development of EUV lithography.
The German Federal President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, awarded the Deutscher Zukunftspreis 2020 to the team from the ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology (SMT) segment during a festive ceremony on 25 November. The jury honored Dr. Peter Kürz, ZEISS, Dr. Michael Kösters, TRUMPF Lasersystems for Semiconductor Manufacturing, and Dr. Sergiy Yulin, Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineers (IOF) in Jena, for their significant contribution to the development and industrial maturity of EUV technology.

Twice the innovative strength
Two ZEISS teams have been nominated for Deutscher Zukunftspreis 2020
The Deutscher Zukunftspreis – the German President's Award for Innovation in Science and Technology – has been presented annually since 1997 and is one of the highest accolades for scientific achievement in Germany. It honors exceptional achievements in technology, engineering and the life sciences that have resulted in viable products. ZEISS is the first-ever company to have two teams nominated for the award.
The award was presented on 25 November 2020 by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin.

EUV lithography team
The team from the ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology (SMT) segment was also shortlisted for developing EUV lithography.
