Man with cinemizer video glasses

Did You Know…

…that 3D Movies Do Not Need a Screen?

What the two movies "Avatar" and "Alice in Wonderland" have in common is actually a “new” old trend: 3D movies enjoyed worldwide popularity in the 1950s and 1970s. This time, however, it looks like it will be more than just a flash in the pan. The figures speak for themselves: based on a study commissioned by the IFA, 41 percent of the households in Germany are planning on purchasing a 3D television in the next few years.

This fascination with 3D has become a hot issue for ZEISS as well: the cinemizer OLED video glasses enable movie buffs to enjoy 3D movies not just in a theater, but even while on the go or at home. This is how it works: there are two small OLED displays in the glasses that show stereoscopically recorded images. The simulation of a 115 cm screen at a distance of two meters creates the feeling of a real movie theater.

Just put on the glasses and you’ll be enjoying a 3D show in no time. And if merely watching gets too dull, simply connect the cinemizer to a PlayStation and demonstrate your 3D gaming skills, e.g. in Pandora with the 3D Avatar game. You can marvel at this new old trend and get to know mobile 3D cinema at the IFA in Berlin from 3 to 8 September: This wearable theater is waiting for you in the iZone in Hall 15.1, Booth 223!
