Did You Know…

…that ZEISS Will Be Hosting an Open House in Jena on 1 October? This Is How the Company Will Be Celebrating 20 Years of Reunification.

The partition of Germany, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the reunification of East and West – these events have left an indelible mark on the history of the optics company. For example, it resulted in two companies called ZEISS after World War II – one in Jena and one in Oberkochen. Independently of each other, they established themselves as competitors on the global market. When the Berlin Wall came down, it was an opportunity for both companies to put the more than 40 years of separation behind them: On 1 October 1991, ZEISS experienced its very own reunification as Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH was re-established as an independent subsidiary of ZEISS in Oberkochen. This launched a new chapter in the history of the company.

20 Years of Reunification – ZEISS will celebrate this event on 1 October with all of its employees and the general public by hosting an open house in Jena. Zeissians will be showcasing their company of today and their ideas and projects of tomorrow.
