Biography

Michael Kaschke is President & Chief Executive Officer. He oversees the Research & Quality Technology segment, the Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology segment and is responsible for Corporate Strategic Development, Corporate Brand & Communications, Corporate Human Resources and Corporate Legal & Patents. He additionally oversees the regions USA and Asia/Pacifi c (APAC). Michael Kaschke has been a Member of the Executive Board since 2000, President and CEO since 2011.

In addition to his offices as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, a company listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and of other ZEISS companies he is a Member of the Super visory Boards of Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, Deutsche Telekom AG and Robert Bosch GmbH.

In 2014 Michael Kaschke was appointed to the German Council of Science and Humanities, one of Germany’s most important scientific-political advisory committees.

In 2009 Michael Kaschke was awarded an honorary professionship from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. He regularly gives lectures on optical medical technology and innovation and business development management.

Michael Kaschke is Chairman of the Council of the Aalen University of Applied Sciences.

Michael Kaschke was born in Greiz, Germany, on June 18, 1957. He graduated with a degree in physics from the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena in 1983. He obtained two doctorates, the first in 1986 (Dr. rer. nat.) and the second in 1988 (Dr. sc. nat.). As part of his scientific work, he conducted research into the generation and application of ultrashort laser pulses.
