Contributing to the global sustainability agenda

In autumn 2015, the United Nations adopted the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which extend to the year 2030. The private sector is also called upon to make its contribution to globally equitable and wealth-creating development within the limits of the earth's capacity. ZEISS is committed to this agenda and wants to contribute to its implementation. The company is aware that all sustainability goals are important and require support.

In order to concentrate on those areas in which ZEISS as a company has particular influence, an analysis of the 17 main goals and 169 sub goals was carried out in the 2018/19 financial year. In this process, the goals were identified where ZEISS can achieve the greatest impact on people, the environment and society due to its business processes, product portfolio and services.

The previous focus on the four SDGs has been confirmed:
3 - Good health and well-being
4 - Quality Education
8 - Decent work and economic growth
12 - Responsible consumption and production
In addition, the following areas where ZEISS can make a contribution were identified:
9 - Industry, Innovation and Infrastructur
13 - Climate Action
