Consignments to ZEISS

Routing order for Carl Zeiss AG

As per your ZEISS order, the goods shall be delivered to a ZEISS site in Germany. The following illustration applies to cases in which it has been agreed that the transport costs for an order shall be borne by ZEISS (= delivery shall be made as per INCOTERM in the EXW order).

In any case, the address provided by ZEISS on the individual order and/or other agreements must be used for the documents accompanying the goods/shipment.

In light of this, we would ask that you proceed as per the specifications detailed in the individual tabs for each delivery method if no clear instructions have been given in the order you’ve received, or issued in a separate agreement with the ordering party.

In the event of non-compliance with our specifications, we reserve the right to invoice you for the difference.

Service provider’s website

You are not an existing CEP shipping customer and do not have an active customer number:

Please register your shipment with the relevant service provider using the individual CEP customer number from ZEISS for pickup (e.g. via the service provider’s service hotline or via email). The relevant hotline numbers for the shipping sites in Germany can be found on the link on the individual PO. If you’re shipping from a site outside Germany, please go to the service provider’s website in your country and get in touch with them in this way.

Depending on the time of order placement, the parcel can normally be picked up on the same day, or on the next day at the latest.

Naming of the ZEISS references on freight documents

In order to ensure smooth processing of incoming orders at ZEISS, the necessary ZEISS references (=ZEISS order number => PO) must be entered in the relevant fields on each AWB or parcel label.

Customer number to be used

Different customer numbers will have to be used depending on the ZEISS business unit and site. If no detailed instructions have been issued about the customer number that is to be used for a particular order, it shall be taken only from the link mentioned in the current order.
Dispatch procedure for CEP shipments:

  • The shipping customer shall select the agreed payment condition (=terms of delivery) for the shipment in question "freight forward"/"ex-works".
  • The shipping customer shall enter the ZEISS order number in reference field 1 on the shipping documentation.
  • The shipping customer shall enter the customer number quoted by ZEISS in their shipping documentation for "freight forward"shipping (see CEP Customer Numbers) and select the chargeable party for each order:
    •  "Invoice to recipient" for shipments sent to the ordering ZEISS unit
    •  "Invoice to third party" for shipments sent to an alternative address on behalf of ZEISS

The payer must be selected by the shipping customer for customs and taxes as per the specifications in each order. If no specifications have been provided, they must make a selection in line with the chargeable party.

You want to have your own CEP-Account number?

A personal customer number simplifies future contact with the respective service provider.

You will need:

  • Name and address of the shipping unit
  • Operational contact person and their details (phone number, email)
  • Invoice address
  • VAT ID

Delivery by air

International orders to be sent to a ZEISS site or to an address in EMEA provided by ZEISS on the PO. At least packaged in a box or on a pallet with a minimum weight of 30 kg of chargeable weight.

Selection of air freight company

Service providers shall be selected as per the following matrix for each shipping site if no other agreement (general or in the PO) has been made with the ZEISS unit in charge.
