“We are encountering challenges that require us to shape processes and structures so that they are more customer-oriented.”

Dear Colleagues,

This issue of ZiB international is something special. In line with the cover story (Go Digital), this issue will appear in a digital format only. Why? Like so many other companies, ZEISS has made digitization a key aspect of its strategic corporate development. Although ZEISS has been enabling and driving global digitization with its exposure optics for microchips for some time, the company is currently transitioning from a hardware-oriented industrial company to a digital player with its other products for industry, medicine, science and consumers – with the corresponding internal processes, software solutions and data services for our customers.

Digitization has top priority at ZEISS. We are focusing on developing solutions that move our customers forward. Intelligent networking is the key word here. Digitization opens up major growth opportunities for ZEISS. At the same time, we are encountering challenges that require us to shape processes and structures so that they are more customer-oriented, faster, more dynamic and more efficient – also in comparison to our competitors.

ZEISS wants to and can do more in the digital world. We will head down this path to benefit our customers and partners, but also in our own interest. We have ambitious goals and now it's time to get to work. We will learn together and drive this development with openness, courage, determination and a pioneering spirit.

We are living in an exciting time that will pave the way to the future.

Best wishes
Dr. Michael Kaschke
