Optical Coherence Tomography –
Three Central Product Generations

1997: OCT

Introduced in 1997, optical coherence tomography (OCT) from ZEISS assists doctors in the examination of patients with serious diseases of the retina.

In 2012, this technology is celebrating 15 years of service, a period that has seen major changes. After all, 15 years – from the OCT 1 to the CIRRUS™ HD-OCT – is a big step into the world of innovations.

Today: OCT product family

The ZEISS OCT family is comprised of two CIRRUS™ HD-OCT products, models 5000 and 500, and two integrated multi-modality OCT and fundus imaging systems, the CIRRUS™ photo models 800 and 600.
The OCT platforms deliver clinical and workflow solutions that span the spectrum of care and address specific workflow and practice needs.

CIRRUS HD-OCT

Diagnostic functions of the CIRRUS HD-OCT enable ophthalmologists and their patients to assess the progress of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). This is vital to future therapies. Furthermore, sophisticated technology also allows better visualization of tissue layers deep in the eye.

As a result, the role these anatomical areas play in diseases of the retina can be examined more accurately.
