Transforming knowledge into insights Intraoperative Fluorescence Workshop

Intraoperative Fluorescence Workshops supported by ZEISS

Held four times a year, Intraoperative Fluorescence Workshops supported by ZEISS are one of the most successful formats promoting peer-group driven learning and experience sharing. Specifically designed to deliver application understanding, these workshops combine clinical case presentations and live-surgeries. The aim of the course is to share our experience and engage in discussions with you.

Location:
Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta via G. Celoria11 –20133 Milano MI, Italy

Language:
English

Max. number of participants:
10 Neurosurgeons

Key highlights: Working with Intraoperative Fluorescence technologies both in Neuro-oncological and Vascular Neurosurgery.
The application of fluorescent tracers for a better tumor visualization (5-ALA and more recently fluorescein) has significantly improved the extent of resection and consequently the prognosis of patients with malignant gliomas. On the other hand, Intraoperative Videoangiography with Indocyanine Green (ICG) has been established as the best way to visualize and preserve blood vessels during aneurysm clipping and vascular malformation removal. After the training, participants will be able to apply 5-ALA and fluorescein during resection of malignant gliomas and other CNS tumors. They will also learn application and technique of ICG videoangiography in vascular and oncological neurosurgery.
