Corneal Refractive Surgery is more than just correcting patients' vision. Join this course and learn more about how to successfully start with Laser Vision Correction.
This course consists of 5 different modules. After module 5, the course will end with a knowledge test. Every participant who attends the 5 modules and passes the test will receive a certificate. To cover most times zones each module is offered twice, you only need to attend the session per module which fits you best.

Mr. Robert Morris is an experienced cataract and refractive surgeon. He qualified in Medicine with Distinction from St. Bartholomews Hospital at the University of London. He completed his post-graduate ophthalmic training at the renowned units in Oxford Eye Hospital, and Moorfields Eye Hospital and the USA.

  • In addition to his successful private practice, he has held the position of Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and cataract lead at Southampton University Hospital NHS Trust. He was Medical Director of Optegra Eye Hospitals for 8 yrs.
  • He has performed over 35,000 lens and 7,500 laser procedures. Throughout his career he has been passionate about surgical training in cataract and refractive surgery.
  • He obtained a Distinction on the University of Ulster Cataract and Refractive Surgery Diploma and is now a clinical tutor for this Diploma. He has published over 40 peer reviewed papers, written book chapters and lectures both Nationally and Internationally.
Alastair Stuart

Alastair Stuart trained in Ophthalmology within the London rotations after graduating from the University of Nottingham Medical School, completing his CCST with a Corneal Fellowship at Moorfields.

  • Following his receipt of the Post Graduate Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery from Ulster University he completed a full time Fellowship in Refractive Surgery at the London Vision Clinic under Professor Dan Reinstein, as well as the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery before joining as a full time Consultant in Laser Refractive and Cataract and Surgery.
  • He is an instructor for the Forefront Refractive Surgery Course held biannually as well as for the Ulster University Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Barbara Czarnota-Nowakowska

Barbara Czarnota-Nowakowska MD has worked as a refractive surgeon for 21 years. She joined Optegra Health Care Poland in 2010 in the capacity of a surgeon as well as Board of Directors Advisor for Quality in Laser Vision Correction. She also served there as Medical Director in years 2004 until 2011.

  • She is regularly invited to deliver courses, training and presentations, including Kontrowersje-Okulistyka Karpacz, Cornea Wisła, the 23rd ESCRS Winter Meeting in Athens, the 36th Congress of the ESCRS in Vienna, 35th Congress of the ESCRS in Lisbon, as well as Ophthalmology Film Festival in Gdynia, 2019.

Prof. Jodhbir Mehta graduated from Guys and St Thomas’s Medical School, University of London, UK. He did his basic and advanced specialist training as well as his sub-specialised fellowship training in Cornea External Disease and Refractive Surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital, latter also at Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC).
 
  • He is Head & Senior Consultant Corneal & External Eye Disease Department SNEC. His work profile is divided between clinical work (seeing patients) and research. His clinical work is mainly in corneal transplantation - both basic and advanced forms, anterior segment reconstruction and in refractive surgery.
  • Professor Mehta is also committed to clinical teaching other surgeons both in Singapore and internationally in USA, Europe and Asia on Advanced forms of corneal transplantation and Corneal Imaging and has been invited worldwide to give lectures on these surgical techniques. Has published 405 peer reviewed publications, has an H index of 54 and his work has been cited over 10,500 times.
  • He is a member of several ophthalmic societies in Europe, Asia and the US and has won 52 awards in the UK and internationally for clinical and research work, most recently the AAO Senior Achievement Award 2017, Coster Lecture from the Australian Corneal Society 2018 Casebeer Award 2020 ISRS.

Philipps University of Marburg, Germany

Walter Sekundo is a University Professor and Chairman at the Department of Ophthalmology, Philipps University of Marburg, Germany. He studied Medicine in Mainz and Frankfurt (Germany) as well as New Orleans and Durham (USA). He took his first postdoctoral fellowship in Ocular Pathology with Prof. W.R. Lee at the University of Glasgow (UK). He continued his ophthalmology residency training at the University of Bonn (Germany) and became a board-certified ophthalmologist in 1996.

  • He was entitled Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology in 2006. In the autumn of 2006 he moved to the University of Mainz (Germany) to serve as a Professor and Deputy Chairman where he improved his skills in glaucoma surgery. In 2008 he returned to Marburg as Chairman.
  • He has performed over 28,000 procedures, including refractive, cataract and corneal cases, glaucoma surgery, and vitreoretinal procedures. He has published more than 160 scientific papers and 43 book chapters and has delivered over 700 presentations at national and international.
  • He has twice received the prestigious Leonhard Klein Award from the German Ophthalmological Society for the development of new surgical procedures in Ophthalmology, among them the Small Incision Lenticule Extraction for the treatment of myopia, for which he received the prize jointly with Prof. M. Blum of Erfurt. His latest research focused on corneal biomechanics after Laser Vision correction as well as treatment of hyperopia and presbyopia.
