Abstract

Peer-to-peer experience sharing on implementing a dental microscope in digital dentistry

The digital industry revolution is more and more present in everyday dental practice. First steps to digital workflow were taken decades ago. However, full digital protocol was not possible before we had digital scanners that are accurate enough for oral rehabilitations.

Beside scanners, we needed new high-precision 3D printers, milling units and materials. Today, we have scientific proof that digital scanners have a similar level of accuracy as analog impressions. New materials have exceptional aesthetical and mechanical properties. We can use them for full arch restorations without any layering. With some limitations, today we can switch to a full digital workflow. From a clinical point of view, the fixed prosthodontic therapy and aesthetic dentistry are particularly demanding for the clinicians if we use a minimal invasive approach. Optical devices and dental microscopes are helpful for clinicians to achieve that goal.

In this keynote presentation the implementation of dental microscope in digital dentistry will be explained based on a single clinical case with a minimal invasive approach.
