In this clinical talk, Michael Schulder, MD and Henning Kahl, MD are speaking about the different radiotherapy treatment possibilities of brain metastases and illustrate how intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) can be included while focusing on rationale, guideline and clinical evidence.

In the first part, Michael Schulder presents the different treatment possibilities for brain metastases from a neurosurgeon’s perspective fostered by clinical case examples from his hospital. He gives in-depth insights in the current status of the clinical evidence for each treatment option pointing out both, opportunities and potential pitfalls. Following, Henning Kahl discusses the implementation of IORT in the brain metastases treatment workflow from his perspective as radiation oncologists. He explains in detail when and why IORT is selected for patients with brain metastases in his hospital in Augsburg while pointing out the main advantages of this treatment option. The talk is followed by a Q&A session.
