Treatment

Kypho-IORT

For cancer patients who develop spinal metastases over the course of their disease, percutaneous cement augmentation is a valuable treatment option. By using intraoperative radiotherapy with the INTRABEAM from ZEISS during cement augmentation, spinal metastases can be sterilized while simultaneously stabilizing the vertebra.¹

Treatment Steps

Step 1 The tumor is located.

Step 2 Using X-ray guidance, a minimally invasive access point is created.

Step 3 The applicator is positioned.

Step 4 Radiation (<5 min) of the bone metastasis at its precise location.

Step 5a Stabilization of the vertebra using vertebroplasty or...

Step 5b ... balloon kyphoplasty.
