How Surface and Form Inspection Contributes to the Performance of Electric Vehicle Components

Wednesday, 28th July 2021 | 1 pm (CDT)

Surface and form instruments are critical in the development and research of critical components of the NEV powertrain. Electric motors and power transmissions must perform to stringent engineering specifications to meet the demands of this newer automotive technology.

The common problem and issues present involve the reduction of noise and harshness that can be generated from electric motor assemblies and transmission gearing. Shaft and rotor form shape and gear tooth surfaces need closer analysis to prevent such noise in a quiet vehicle compared to internal combustion engines.

Highlights of this webinar:

  • Where the sources of noise and or harshness come from in the NEV powertrain
  • Why surface and form inspection are important to solving NEV noise
  • Important surface and form parameters to watch out for to evaluate and monitor the manufacturing process
