Advanced Course FRET, FRAP and Other Photomanipulation Strategies

Advanced fluorescence techniques, commonly known as the F-techniques, measure the kinetics and the interactions of biomolecules with high sensi­tivity and spatiotemporal resolution. This course provides detailed theoreti­cal and practical knowledge about principles and applications of the most commonly used F-techniques: Fluorescence Recovery After Photo-bleaching (FRAP) & Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET).

Topics of the course

 

  • FRAP (Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching) using living cells
  • FRET (Forster Resonance Energy Transfer), a technology to prove molecular interaction on the basis of (confocal) light microscopy
  • Other Photomanipulation strategies (e.g. Photoconversion)

 

Prerequisites

Fundamentals are recommended, e.g. our „lntroduction to Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy"
