Advanced F-Techniques and Other Photomanipulation Strategies

Advanced fluorescence techniques, commonly known as the F-techniques, measure the kinetics and the interactions of biomolecules with high sensitivity and spatiotemporal resolution. This course provides detailed theoretical and practical knowledge about principles and applications of the most commonly used F-techniques: Fluorescence Recovery After Photo-bleaching (FRAP) & Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) on the LSM 9 family.

Topics of the course

 

  • FRAP (Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching)
  • FRET (Forster Resonance Energy Transfer), a technology to prove molecular interaction on the basis of (confocal) light microscopy
  • Theory of other Photomanipulation strategies (e.g. Photoconversion)

 

Prerequisites

Fundamental knowledge about confocal laser scanning microscopy

Technical Prerequisites:
High speed wired or wireless internet connection
