Pore scale imaging of a flow through a one inch core
This webinar will cover the unique capabilities of ZEISS Xradia Versa XRM to achieve Resolution at a Distance (RaaD), allowing for pore-scale imaging to be conducted while flowing multiple fluids through a standard 1” core-plug.
Steady state relative permeability – single vs. dual porosity systems
Most in situ flow experiments to date have concerned unsteady state displacements, where fluids are injected sequentially. In this webinar we will review some results from the state-of-the-art integrated flow system for ZEISS Xradia Versa XRM, allowing for full steady state relative permeability experiments to be conducted at reservoir conditions.
Peering into the fourth dimension – dynamic displacements in laboratory systems
Rapid scanning with lab-based X-ray microscopes can be used to examine dynamic processes with time scales of hours to days, such as multi-phase flow, reaction, compaction and salt precipitation.
The understanding of geomechanical processes is critical for the holistic description of reservoir dynamics, however their fundamental grain-scale physics is very poorly understood. In this webinar we will review recent work that has allowed for the qualitative and quantitative understanding of fracture formation and propagation.
Whole core characterization – multi-scale methods & in situ
Rocks are heterogeneous on all length scales. We will show how, using new detector options for ZEISS Xradia Versa XRM, we can properly capture and characterize this heterogeneity by using macroscopic lithological classification algorithms and subsampling. This allows for small sub-samples to be taken from each lithology for in situ testing, and measurements of properties such as wettability and residual saturation to be upscaled to the full core scale.
Future views for in situ – extending experiments down to the nm scale
While most in situ experiments have been conducted on the micron length scale, for unconventional systems this may not be sufficient to fully resolve the pore/grain structure. In this webinar we will review how ZEISS Xradia Ultra XRM can be used with an integrated loading stage to conduct geomechanics experiments on shale at resolutions down to 50nm.
