Superresolution Microscopy

ZEISS ELYRA PS.1 Technology Workshop

The ELYRA product line puts the two most powerful and versatile superresolution technologies at your disposal. With superresolution structured illumination (SR-SIM) you increase the resolution by a factor of two and you will be able to image fine structural details while remaining free to label your samples with conventional dyes. To resolve even more details you can use superresolution photoactivated localization microscopy (PALM) for endogenously-expressed photo-switchable fluorescent proteins or labeling with organic dyes.
Expand the powerful superresolution technology and combine seamlessly together with your ZEISS SEMs in a correlative workflow.

Your ELYRA system lets you reveal the ultrastructure of your object of interest in 3D, count molecules to quantify your results and see the arrangement of proteins within a structural context.

In order to ensure a productive learning environment, registration is required and group sizes are strictly limited.

  • Description

General Explore the exciting world of superresolution. Learn how ELYRA performs superresolution structured illumination microscopy (SR-SIM) and photoactivated localization microscopy in three dimensions (3D-PALM).
Topics • ELYRA PS.1 demonstration/hands on and especially 3D PALM
    • Offline processing of SIM and PALM data
    • Electron Microscopy/Correlative Microscopy demonstration

All hands on will be exercised on an ELYRA system and SIGMA SEM using the ZEISS ZEN software.
Prerequisites A good knowledge in widefield microscopy is recommended.
