Educational Symposium

Educational Symposium: Core Companies Convergence

June 18 - 19, 2019 - ZEISS Microscopy Customer Center New York

Join industry experts, colleagues, and peers for a complimentary 2-day symposium to explore best practices, emerging trends, and thought leadership for the Core Facility.

Core facilities and microscopy companies share the goal of using microscopy to generate quantitative data that can address fundamental scientific questions leading to discoveries. This meeting is intended to build up the microscopy core facility community and facilitate the convergence of core facilities and companies in quantitative imaging. This will be accomplished through the promotion of and sharing of best practices in standardization and quality control, automation of system monitoring and maintenance, mechanisms to transfer knowledge and exploring roles core facilities and companies can play in making this a reality.

Networking opportunities will enable exchange of experience, sharing expertise and will interconnect the imaging community. Specific topics of interest will include facility management, sustainability, big data, grant writing, and new technologies. Convergence of cores and companies will lead to shared responsibility, ideas and expertise that will accelerate the movement of the field forward ultimately leading to high quality science.

Meeting Objectives:

  • Promote interactions between cores and companies
  • Explore challenges and potential solutions benefiting both communities
  • Develop standards and quality control pipelines
  • Elevate the broad application of high-level quantitative imaging
  • Provide Cores with the tools to operate efficient facilities

Refreshments, lunch and an evening social event will be provided. Additional travel expenses including air and hotel costs will need to be covered by attendees.
