To enhance the understanding of processes that regulate the heterologous expression of a family of human adenosine receptors, researches applied ZEISS correlative workflows by taking advantage of the benefits of Shuttle & Find software, correlative coverslips and overlaying of SR- and SEM datasets in ZEN. This approach allowed them to detect an electron-dense cisternal compartments which can be co-localized with the G-bound protein receptor labeled structures. A similar approach can be combined with other labeling/contrasting protocols and readily adapted to existing sample specific methods.
