Dr. Gerold Dobler

Dr. Gerold Dobler was appointed the new Head of Product Management for the Nature & Lifestyle department from August 2011. He has been working in the fields of product management, development, quality assurance, sales and marketing in the optics industry for many years. Dr. Gerold Dobler has extensive international experience in nature observation and global knowledge of the market. His strengths are in the field of ornithology, bird watching and nature photography.

Gerhard Krüss

Gerhard Krüss is the longest standing contact person at Carl Zeiss Sports Optics for nature and bird watching in Germany. With his frequent presence at trade fairs and various birding events, he has been a well-known figure among bird watchers for many years, especially in Northern Germany. Through his involvement, Carl Zeiss has made a significant contribution to the realisation of the Heligoland Bird Days and the HanseBird exhibition in Hamburg.

Stefan Bühring

Stefan Bühring has been enjoying the great outdoors since childhood and has worked in the industry for over 22 years. As Regional Sales Manager for Western and Southern Europe, he works in collaboration with our local partners to foster close contact with the national bird watching organizations there. He is jointly responsible for the cooperation of Carl Zeiss Sports Optics with tour operators such as Sunbird Tours and Rockjumper Tours. In addition to a variety of projects in the most important birding countries, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, some of the most exciting collaboration projects that he manages are located in the La Doñana National Park and in the Bearded Vulture protection programme in Spain.

An international network

The new team is supported worldwide by friends of Carl Zeiss Sports Optics and specialists in nature and bird watching. In addition to digiscoping specialists such as Stephen Ingraham in the United States, we draw upon the advice of experienced film makers such as Simon King from Great Britain.
