The ZEISS SPACEMASTER space flight planetarium from Jena was developed in the late 1960s. It featured three fundamental innovations at the same time. It was the first planetarium from ZEISS specifically designed for medium dome sizes of 12.5 m and 15 m in diameter. The SPACEMASTER series was the first in the world with an integrated control system for automatic operation of the program. The fourth axis of motion (vertical axis), also installed as standard, made it possible for the first time to simulate realistic space flight effects.

The first SPACEMASTER projectors were installed in Brazil in the early 1970s. The further development mainly took into account the progress in automation technology. While the first series still worked with punched tape and a device-specific programming language, the second generation already allowed direct programming. In the last generation, "RFP-DP3", the control system was already based entirely on computer hardware and corresponding software. It not only allowed the automatic running of a show, but also gave the operator the possibility to improvise and record live operations directly.

This ZEISS SPACEMASTER space flight planetarium RFP-DP was in operation in the Ostrava Planetarium, Czech Republic between 1980 and 2013.
