Summary

Remote confocal laser endomicroscopy in patients with intracranial tumors

In this lecture originally held at AANS 2022, neurosurgeon Philippe Schucht, MD, discusses the rational and the benefits of using confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) for intracranial tumors in a remote setting.

He evaluates the potentials and limits of different intraoperative imaging technologies (white light microscopy, neuronavigation, intraoperative ultrasound, 5-ALA, intraoperative MRI). Based on study results from the University Hospital Bern, he talks about the potential of CLE and finally shares a case example of a glioma patient from his surgical routine.
