The Model VI series from Carl Zeiss in Oberkochen was one of the most successful planetarium projectors with numerous installations in large planetariums worldwide. First introduced in 1968, several projectors of this type are still in use today. With its realistic appearance, the starry sky of the Model VI with 8900 fixed stars fascinates the viewer in an extraordinary way. The large projector served and serves as a universal demonstration device of astronomical phenomena on domes between 20 and 23 m in diameter. Natural images and a high precision in all movements distinguish the Model VI until today. The Model VI A version was equipped with an automatic control of the projector. This allowed complete shows to be programmed. The projector for the Stuttgart Planetarium, which opened in 1977, was in operation until 2001. It was replaced by a ZEISS UNIVERSARIUM Model IX.
