From the very beginning schoolchildren were among the visitors to planetariums. This photo shows students and teachers from three Jena schools during a demonstration on December 6, 1926. In the center is the Model II dumbbell-shaped planetarium projector, the successor to the first planetarium projector for Munich. The Jena Planetarium, opened on July 18, 1926, was one of the first large planetariums in Germany and with some interruptions has been in the service of education, culture and entertainment ever since.
