SKYMASTER ZKP 3 designates the third generation of ZEISS small size planetariums after the ZKP 1 and SKYMASTER ZKP 2 models. The design of the projector is based on that of its successful predecessor. The increase in light output allows installation in larger domes with diameters up to 11 m. The instrument features several improved mechanical properties and offers a range of new projection options for the small planetarium. These include the separate display of zodiac figures and constellation figures of the northern and southern skies, the display of the compass rose, a dynamic map and the projection of the great circles with optical quality. The new PC-based automatic control allows all operation variants from live to fully automatic. Additional projectors and systems extend SKYMASTER ZKP 3 to a multifunctional projection system.

50 projectors of the ZKP 3 series were installed in planetariums on all continents between 1993 and 2005.
