Anti-reflective coatings now come standard with clear, prescription lenses. But what about sunglass lenses? Is it useful? Is it a waste of money?
How does AR work?
When wearing sunglasses, reflections are stopped primarily by the tint on the front of the lens. However it’s on the reverse side of the lens where you need a little help from an anti-reflective coating. The anti-reflective coating reduces the light reflected on the reverse surface of the sunglass lens. Otherwise, the light bounces back into your eyes and disrupts your vision.
With an AR on the sunglass lens, you enjoy extra comfort and clarity thanks to the reduction of blur and annoying reflected images on the reverse side of the lens.
