Sustainability

Together towards sustainable ophthalmic surgical healthcare

CSR is key to the transformation of DORC and the creation of sustainable growth.

DORC Corporate Social Responsibility Policy
A healthcare professional is smiling and pointing at the touchscreen interface of a medical device while standing next to it in a well-lit clinical setting.

We are committed to advancing sustainability in ophthalmic surgical healthcare. With healthcare contributing significantly to global carbon emissions and medical waste remaining an important challenge, we believe that meaningful progress can only be achieved through innovation, collaboration, and a long-term commitment to responsible business practices.

As part of the ongoing integration of DORC into ZEISS, sustainability-related processes, reporting, and information are currently being aligned and further developed. During this transition, certain content may continue to reflect DORC branding or legacy processes and will be updated over time as part of the broader brand migration.

As decisions are made and processes are finalized, updates will be communicated transparently, and the respective webpages will be adapted accordingly.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership as we shape this next chapter together.

Our commitments

  • Black-and-white line drawing with two lines each connecting multiple points showing different trends

    Ambitious targets

We are aligning our sustainability goals with the Paris Agreement, so together we can limit the global temperature rise to 1.5°C. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), ensures that our plans are in line with the latest scientific recommendations and insights.

    Sustainable sites

We aim to transform our operational sites into models of sustainability. Through energy-efficient practices, waste reduction measures, active recycling initiatives and responsible resource management, we aim to create more sustainable work environments.

    Waste reduction

DORC is committed to minimizing (medical) waste. Together with partners, we are exploring alternatives with lower environmental impact and implement strategies to reduce waste generation, promoting a circular approach to our product life cycles. An example is ECO-line, our line of refurbished surgical equipment.

    Transportation impact reduction

We are reviewing various options to reduce the environmental impact of transportation in our supply chain, e.g. by optimizing routes and considering more sustainable transport alternatives.

Our partnerships

To address the complex challenges on the road to circular healthcare we need collaborative efforts that transcend organizational boundaries. DORC is connected to several initiatives and collaborates actively on projects that drive innovation, share knowledge, and work towards a more sustainable future in healthcare together.
