13 May 2026

Jena and Oberkochen (Germany) | May 13, 2026 | Carl Zeiss Meditec AG

The German Society of Otorhinolaryngology (DGHNO) awarded the DGHNO Golden Honorary Pin to Ben Bauerschaper, Head of the ENT & Reconstructive Surgery Business Sector at ZEISS Medical Technology. This honor, which Ben Bauerschaper accepted on behalf of ZEISS Medical Technology during the opening ceremony of the DGHNO Congress in Ulm, Germany on 13 May 2026, recognizes the innovative, partnership-based, and scientific exchange between ZEISS and leading ENT surgeons.

"Receiving the DGHNO Golden Honorary Pin is both an incentive and an obligation for us," emphasizes Ben Bauerschaper. "Our mission is to support physicians in improving their patients’ quality of life. To do this, we want to understand unmet medical needs in detail. University hospitals and scientific institutions are key partners for ZEISS in this effort: together, we are pushing technological limits and developing innovative solutions with real added value for clinical care."

ZEISS actively promotes scientific exchange in ENT and aims to further expand the close connection between industrial innovation and clinical research. Its long-standing and intensive collaboration with ENT professional societies worldwide is a key driver that sustainably supports scientific progress in diagnostics, surgery, and education.

Visitors to the DGHNO Congress will have the opportunity to experience the KINEVO® 900 S Robotic Visualization System®, including its AI-supported cobotic functions and wide range of digital capabilities. The system enables hybrid work in the operating room, both as a classic surgical microscope and in an exoscopic setting. In combination with a 4K 3D monitor and head-mounted display, surgical procedures can be visualized ergonomically and in high image quality for the entire team in the operating room, making it particularly suitable for teaching and training at university hospitals.

ZEISS is also presenting the TIVATO® 700 – a versatile all-rounder for ENT surgery. The modern, fully integrated visualization system fits seamlessly into hospitals’ IT infrastructure and supports demanding surgical procedures, such as complex middle ear operations or cochlear implant surgeries. The ZEISS TIVATO 700 meets individual surgical requirements and is used primarily in public hospitals and large treatment centers.

"Innovations always emerge when clinical expertise and technological excellence come together," adds Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Hoffmann, Medical Director of the Department of ENT as well as Head and Neck Surgery at Ulm University Hospital. "Awarding the Golden Honorary Pin to ZEISS underscores how important collaborative work with industry is to us – from research and training to everyday work in the operating room."
